Concern
is a non-denominational development agency currently working in 27 countries
worldwide. Concern's work focuses on three key areas: humanitarian disasters,
long-term development, education and advocacy. There are now as many people
living in extreme poverty as lived in the entire world a century ago.

We are
trying to raise EUR 250,000 for a specific project in Zambia. Zambia is
one of worlds poorest and most debt-ridden countries. About 160,000 people
live in the Mongu district in Zambia. All money raised will go towards
a pilot project in this area. The project we are trying to fund is a livelihood
project. The idea is to raise enough money to help set this community
up properly by showing them how to farm efficiently, HIV/AIDS being tackled
through education, effective water systems being put in place and much
more.
In a nutshell, we want to try to address the poverty in this area for
the 160,000 inhabitants so that it does not need to be addressed again.
I suppose to quote a very topical expression; we want to make poverty
history in this area.
