In the Canaries

Christina heads for the Canaries

The past month has been absolutely crazy as we tried to get everything organised to ship the boat.  This involved getting help installing some equipment on the boat, testing everything, finalising the electrics, packing all food and other supplies for our trip onto the boat as well as a million other things.  All this time, we were trying to maintain hard training so as you can imagine it has been manic.

We managed to get everything together and on the Thursday the 6th of October, the Christina began her trip out to the Canary Islands for the race start on November 27th.  Along with many of the other boats competing in the race, Christina is being shipped in a 40ft container and the next time we see her will be 12 days before the race start.

This is an enormous milestone for us.  Getting your boat to the starting line is very difficult.  In fact out of the 48 teams that originally entered the race, it turned out to be a task too far for 21 of these teams.  And so now there will be just 27 teams lined up for the start of the race!

The excitement grows with every day that passes and as I write these notes, I have butterflies in my stomach as the greatest challenge both Tori and I have ever faced draws closer and closer by the day!
